Together for a healthy, empowered & sustainable future.
BK Wellness Foundation organises and federates Self-Help Groups and community collectives — and works across four pillars to help communities lead their own progress.
Empower. Heal. Educate. Serve.
One mission expressed four ways — the framework behind every programme we run.
Empower
Collectives, livelihoods and enterprise that put communities in charge.
- SHGs & Institution Building
- Women’s Empowerment & Livelihoods
- Agriculture & Rural Enterprise
Heal
Preventive health, nutrition, clean water and timely relief.
- Health, Nutrition & Water
- Disaster Response & Relief
Educate
Literacy, skilling and research that turns evidence into action.
- Education & Skilling
- Research, Knowledge & Advocacy
Serve
Protecting the environment and serving communities in partnership.
- Environment & Climate
- Community Institutions & Partnerships
From small groups to standing institutions.
A woman joins a Self-Help Group of ten. Ten groups form a Village Organisation. A dozen villages form a Cluster Federation with the scale to borrow, govern and serve for itself.
We handhold at every tier — bookkeeping, governance, leadership, conflict resolution — then step back as the institution stands on its own.
How the model works →Tiers of a community institution
- Self-Help Group10–20 members pool savings and lend to each other.
- Village OrganisationGroups federate to share risk and reach services.
- Cluster Level FederationVillages unite to borrow, govern and advocate at scale.
Partner with a grassroots institution-builder.
CSR foundations, government departments, NGOs and individual donors — your support goes directly into building institutions that last.
A not-for-profit built for the long haul.
BK Wellness Foundation is a company incorporated under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 — every rupee we raise is applied only to our charitable objects, never distributed as profit.
Our mission
To promote, form, nurture and federate Self-Help Groups, Joint Liability Groups, producer groups, women’s collectives and other community institutions — for the social, educational, economic and cultural development of the people who make them up.
Who we serve
Disadvantaged, marginalised and vulnerable communities: women, youth, farmers, artisans, persons with disabilities, and economically weaker sections across rural and urban India.
Why a Section 8 company?
The Section 8 structure carries the accountability of a company with the purpose of a charity.
- Profits stay in the missionNo dividends — surplus is reinvested in programmes.
- Governed transparentlyBoard oversight, audited accounts, statutory filings.
- Built to receive grants & CSREligible for CSR, grants and — subject to law — foreign contributions.
Principles we don’t compromise on.
Partnerships make the work possible.
We collaborate with government, local institutions and civil society to carry our charitable objects to scale.
Eight focus areas, four pillars, one method.
Each area is delivered the same way we know works: the collective, capacity building, awareness and handholding until communities lead for themselves.
Programmes, camps, centres and campaigns.
Training programmes and literacy campaigns. Health, nutrition and eye camps. Resource, counselling and skill-development centres. Seminars, exhibitions, fairs and awareness drives — whatever brings the object to the doorstep.
Have a programme in mind?
We design and deliver community programmes in partnership with funders and government. Tell us the outcome you want to reach.
We build institutions, not dependency.
Organise people into collectives, strengthen those collectives into institutions, and let the institutions carry development forward long after we leave.
Why federation works
A single Self-Help Group can save and lend. A federation of hundreds can negotiate with banks, run enterprises, deliver services and hold institutions accountable. Scale changes what a community can do for itself.
That’s why we measure success not by activities delivered, but by institutions that keep running once our handholding ends.
Four moves, in order.
Evidence over anecdote.
We undertake research, surveys, impact assessments and documentation — and use them to improve programmes and inform policy.

Four ways to build with us.
Every contribution — money, time, partnership or expertise — is applied solely to our charitable objects.
Every lawful source, one lawful purpose.
As a Section 8 company we can accept grants, donations, subscriptions, endowments, CSR funds, government assistance, sponsorships and — subject to applicable law — foreign contributions, all applied solely to our objects.
*Foreign contributions accepted only in accordance with the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act and applicable law.
